Sorry Skipper. This post actually has nothing to do with the "Fairness Doctrine." The problem is a lack of diverse perspectives in the media. This lack of diversity isn't the national evolution of market forces as you seem to indicate, but the result of a corrupted media policy system that has allowed only a few companies to dominate the airwaves. The results of the Free Press studies on diversity of ownership (cited in my post) bear this out.

Fairness doctrine? This legislation title sure is an oxymoron, nothing fair about it. Apparently, the FCC doesn't believe in capitalism, free enterprise. Too many conservative talk shows? If they weren't supported they wouldn't exist. Franken's program "Air America" went bankrupt so I heard because it couldn't get enough sponsors. Ever listen to the program? It was a disaster, still is. If they plan on succeeding they need to get better ideas and writers. Who would want to sponsor a forced radio program? Let the public decide what we want to hear, not the FCC. -- Skipper
