Sneak Preview: Moyers on Martin’s Massive Media Giveaway
Tonight on PBS, Bill Moyers returns to his “favorite beat” — the battle against Big Media.
But you can catch a sneak preview of the segment here.
The show feature highlights from last week’s boisterous ownership hearing in Seattle — and the shots of Chairman Martin’s reactions are priceless.
Watch all the way to the end, where Moyers explains why Martin’s supposedly moderate new proposal to lift cross-ownership in the biggest cities is a stalking horse for runaway media consolidation across the country.
Then contact your senators and tell them to do something about it!

In 2003, I went to right-wing sites and left an FCC link for them to publicly comment on this issue; the result was a bipartisan success.
Of course, the FCC has scrambled and moved the link around so that the general public could barely find it, but I think this is the one.
I propose again to send the following link to the NRA and other sites like it; this is a bipartisan battle and the December 11 deadline is right around the corner.
Please send me an email (spencer_adams@hotmail.com), verifying this link and tell me what you think about my proposal.
We need all the help we can get right now.

I’m a little confused about our situation in Dallas. How can Belo own both the Dallas Morning News and the local station WFAA? That’s cross ownership, correct?

The FCC has an info page on filing comments here: http://www.fcc.gov/ownership/comments.html
Though we’ve tried to make it easier — for those on the right, left and everywhere in between — here: http://www.stopbigmedia.com/=act
Though the most important action to take today is contacting Congress. Pressure from Capitol Hill is the best way to stop Kevin Martin’s massive giveaway. Urge your senators to support the bipartisan Media Ownership Act of 2007: http://action.freepress.net/campaign/ownership

WFAA was grandfathered in when the newspaper/broadcast cross-ownership rule was created.
