		<description>The racism surrounding Sotomayor&#039;s nomination is harder to pick out, but it&#039;s there too.  One example: Sen. Lindsey Graham&#039;s comment -- made in response to Sotomayor&#039;s &quot;wise Latina&quot; remark from 2001 -- that &quot;being an average, every-day white guy ... that does not exactly make me feel good hearing a sitting judge say that.&quot; 

According to Sen. Graham&#039;s logic, if he is an every-day white guy, than anyone else -- say, a Latina woman -- is not &quot;every-day&quot; or normal, but instead is different, exotic, i.e., not what you see every day.  As if Sotomayor is a crazy Latina alien dropping in on white people from outer space, or worse, the Bronx.</description>
